Eugene Volokh reports on how the student government at Boise State is proposing a new rule declaring that “a senator of ASBSU may not work, intern, or be actively involved in organizations or student newspapers that create an atmosphere where students do not feel represented.” It's a stupid rule, but these kind of restrictions are very common in another place: the media, both student and professional, where the restrictions on free expression are (wrongly) justified by the fear that someone might see the institution as less than impartial.
