Freedom of the Campus Press in Illinois

Illinois state legislator Susan Garrett has introduced a bill to reverse the 7th Circuit's ruling in Hosty v. Carter and reinstate freedom of the press for college students in Illinois. The Student Press Law Center reports on it. A hearing on the bill will be held Wednesday, March 7 at 4:00PM in Capitol 409.

Obviously, this bill (similar to one passed and signed into law in California last year) is essential in Illinois, where the Hosty v. Carter restrictions are currently the law.
