MLA Sessions on Academic Freedom Open to the Public

If you're in Chicago at the end of the month, please stop by to hear me discuss academic freedom and my new book, Patriotic Correctness: Academic Freedom and Its Enemies, at the Modern Language Association (MLA) conference. I'll be speaking on a panel, "Academic Freedom under Fire: Specific Threats," on Friday, 28 December, 3:30–4:45 p.m., Grand Ballroom D North, Hyatt Regency. This session is free and open to the public (no need to be an MLA member, nor do you need to register for the conference), as are the other academic freedom sessions, "How the University Works: Higher Education and the Service Economy" (1:45-3pm in the same room on Dec. 28, right before my session), and "The Precarious Future of Academic Freedom" with AAUP president Cary Nelson on Saturday, 29 December, 10:15 a.m.–12:00 noon, Regency Ballroom A, Hyatt Regency. Here's a list of other free events at the MLA.
